# Finance MCP (finance-mcp.com) — Docs

Finance MCP is a hosted, pay-per-run MCP server for financial data (OKX, Deribit, SEC EDGAR, FMP, FRED, Polymarket).

## Quick start for agents

## Connect over MCP

Server URL (Streamable HTTP): `https://finance-mcp.com/mcp`. Clients that support MCP OAuth discover sign-in automatically.

### Claude.ai

1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
2. Name it Finance MCP and paste the server URL:

   ```

3. Click Add, then Connect, and sign in to finance-mcp.com to authorize.

### Claude Code

1. Add the server:

   ```bash
   claude mcp add --transport http finance-mcp https://finance-mcp.com/mcp
   ```
2. In Claude Code, run /mcp, select finance-mcp and choose Authenticate. (Or run claude mcp login finance-mcp from your shell.)

### Codex

1. Add the server:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add finance-mcp --url https://finance-mcp.com/mcp
   ```
2. Sign in when the browser opens. If it doesn't, run:

   ```bash
   codex mcp login finance-mcp
   ```

### Cursor

1. Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project):

3. If Cursor marks the server as needing login (Settings → MCP), click it to sign in.

### ChatGPT

1. Turn on Developer mode (Settings → Apps → Advanced settings). Availability depends on your plan.
2. Add a custom MCP server (Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server) with this URL and OAuth authentication:

3. Create it, then Connect and sign in to finance-mcp.com.

### Any client with an API key

Create a key at https://finance-mcp.com/dashboard/keys (new keys include 1,000 credits) and send it as a header instead of OAuth:

## REST API

- `GET https://finance-mcp.com/api/tools` — tool catalog, no key needed
- `GET https://finance-mcp.com/api/billing/balance` — credit balance (Bearer key)
- `GET https://finance-mcp.com/api/billing/history` — usage history (Bearer key)

## Tools

- `finance_discover` (free) — find tools by describing the task
- `finance_inspect` (free) — input schema, output shape and credit cost
- `finance_run` (metered) — run a tool; currently 1–2 credits per call; failed vendor calls are not billed
